As soon as Jake Slade and his partner, Three Fingers Bent, arrived in the small Texas town of New Gideon, they knew no one wanted them there. There’d been some rustling in the area, and folks weren’t taking too kindly to strangers. But things didn’t get any better when Slade and Bent moved on. The two didn’t get far before a posse from New Gideon rode up, accused Bent of murder, and took him back to face a judge.
