Gringo

“I’m not good at crawling before some arrogant gringo!” Juanita Mestas snapped.
“Quit buttering me up,” Dan Keen said sarcastically, “and tell me what’s on your mind.”
“They’ll hang my innocent brother! He has only three days to live unless you help me!”

The ex-U. S. deputy marshal knew it was foolhardy to spring Pepe Mestas from jail. Yet he did it for Juanita.
