Incessant heat and drought have taken their toll on the Wild Horse Valley range. And nowhere is it worse than on the Double R, the largest ranch in the district, owned by Walt Rand. Things really heat up when Nick Kenyon diverts what little water is left in Wild Horse Creek, giving his little ranch more water than it needs and the Double R none. Kenyon had long since managed to turn all the smaller ranchers against the Double R, blaming Rand and his greed for all the problems on the range. But stealing water in a drought is the last straw. With tensions riding high and the area becoming a tinderbox, Rand decides to fight back. He’ll deal with Kenyon the same way he would with anyone who stole what belonged to the Double R—with bullets!
